Extremely rare, vintage, rotary valve Miraphone SN# 9721 fluglehorn in Bb. Listen to the Mahlers 3rd Symphony off stage post horn solo and you will know why you need this horn. Of all the different instruments none have been so effortless and stylish as this one... nor as in tune. The advantage of this particular model is the fact that the mouth-piece receiver accepts a standard trumpet mouthpiece! While playing or performing on this model of fluglehorn, you have the control and familiarity of your favorite B or C cup Bach Stradivarius, Laskey, GR or Schilke trumpet mouthpiece. The high B's and long phrases are no sweat... unlike struggling to play it on a standard fluglehorn or cornet to try for that unique Post Horn sound, sacrificing security and intonation in the process. This is a beautiful instrument. The lacquer is about 90%. A brace was re-soldered near the 3rd valve and the lacquer is burnt where the repair was done. An Amado water key was added and there is evidence of that custom addition. There are a few minor dings here and there... nothing that affects the playability. In looking on the Miraphone website to get an idea of what the current new model of this horn is going for you will find it selling for 1700 Euros. In dollars, that's about $2500 at the current exchange rate. I have no idea if the modern versions play anything at all like this vintage one.
