Bach Stradivarius Contralto Trumpet SN# 373120 Mdl 187F With 351 Bell Key of F Bach Contralto Trumpet in F-Good Condition! This is a Bach Strad Model 187F contralto trumpet. Shares the third and fourth cornet parts in European orchestrations, often playing the afterbeat in marches. Effective in brass quartets and quintets, as well as replacing the horns in marching bands. The register very similar (exact) to a French Horn. The F contra-alto has the same exact usable range as the C trumpet, the Eb contra-alto has the same exact usable range as the Bb trumpet, and the D contra-alto has the same exact range as the now-rare trumpet in A. It sounds more like a Trombone in timbre or bass trumpet but does not play in the Bb key that a Bass Trumpet does. Comes with the very hard to find 9AT mouthpiece ... doesn't work at all well with a trumpet mouthpiece although it will accept one. Bach has sadly discontinued their 187f, which was a very fine instrument. The 187f now joins a number of discontinued alto trumpets made primarily by Bach and Getzen. Also comes with the original case.
