The Leadpipe found on large bore 51LB horns is a fast taper initially and then an open pipe at tuning slide entry bore for the remainder of the available length.

Frank Holton model 51-LB trumpet. A beautiful try-tone combination of yellow brass with nickle accents and a ROSE brass (High Copper Content) bell. The "LB" stands for Large bore and at 0.465" it is that. It was developed by Holton in the late 1940's and early 50's for professionals who demand the ultimate in large bore power, brilliance and response. The horn is in spectacular shape.  There are no ripples in the bell and, as far as I know, never had any damage. All the slides are super straight and tight with no dents. The valves are perfect. The have not been rebuilt and are the way they left the factory. Flawless. There is no leaking, all the slides pull out with the best "pop" ever and no wobble in the valves in any way. The lead-pipe is perfect with no red rot, that's because it is solid nickle alloy. It has a higher copper content than the nickle ferules on the slides so the color is slightly different. This is  a FANTASTIC Horn. Big fat sound and an easy blow. Great intonation. Slots just where you think it should. All the slides are free and all the screws, valve and water key springs are original to the horn. The top and bottom valve caps are like new with no wear or nicks. Physically the horn is SUPER straight and appears to be dent free. There is no case or mouth piece. This is a rare chance to get a horn of this quality.
