This horn once belonged to famed “Chase” Band member Jerry Van Blair.

This instrument is with slight minor cosmetic wear but solid mechanical performance (good valve compression). Comes with a Gard Leather Gig Bag

• The “BoChaWa” Connection: The song “BoChaWa” from the band’s second album, Ennea, was named by combining the names of Jerry’s previous band (BoReebie), Bill Chase, and Wally (Wa) Yohn.
• Survivorship: Unlike several of his bandmates, including Bill Chase, who tragically died in a 1974 plane crash, Van Blair had left the group prior to the accident.
• Legacy: He is remembered by fellow musicians as a “sweet” flugelhorn player with a soulful connection to his instrument. Van Blair passed away on June 17, 2000, in Richmond, Indiana, at the age of 65.

I think this horn has been overhauled at some point in its life the silver plate looks new and whoever did it was a PRO.  Recent Bob Reeves Patented Valve Alignment and a HornTrader Sonic Clean.  This horn is GIG ready!

This horn looks like New!   Valves are excellent. Fingerbuttons are pristine. Horn plays GREAT! If you want a dark warm sounding flugel this is the one! Excellent fast valve action.  Smokey dark flugel sound.  This horn is the bomb!  No other flugel compares with the sound of Couesnon Flugel! Couesnon Flugelhorn, SN/ 76064 On the 2nd Valve It’s stamped ‘A’.  All valves & slides are excellent, tight, they work free & easy, excellent compression. It’s has s few dents and some scratches, Made in France.  Comes with original hard wood case with a FUNKY green interior.

The serial numbers of the Couesnon Fluges is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.  A fire in 1978 destroyed all records of these great horns. Couesnon is one of the great names in brass instruments, in business over 170 years. It grew to include eight factories employing, at one time, over 1800 people in France. In the USA in the 1950s, the Couesnon flugelhorn became very popular as a doubling instrument for jazz trumpet artists. Their flugelhorn sounded great, was readily available, and was cheap. They were everywhere. Its design is copied by the overwhelming majority of instrument makers who now make and market flugelhorns

Kanstul 1525 Flugel Horn S/n 24380The Model 1525 Signature Series Flügelhorn is the flagship of the Kanstul line, and is considered “the one” by many players, including artists for whom a distinctive sound is paramount. The .421″ bore provides the traditional sound and playability of a smaller bore flügel and has impeccable intonation. Although a 3rd slide trigger is standard; most players find a little need to use it. The “straight through” valve block gives the 1525 a very easy and open blow with minimal resistance. A one-piece hand-hammered 6 1/2″ diameter copper bell comes standard yet there is nothing standard about it! With a pure copper bell, the 1041-FLC offers a truly lush sound, full of overtones and warmth. Every flugelhorn comes standard with two leadpipes, designed for use with small morse taper and large more taper mouthpieces. Brand New! These Flugels play beautifully. The third valve trigger is very very easily operated which is a nice change from many flugels. All registers of this horn are very free blowing. In A/B test with one of my respected colleagues we went back and forth several times to the Yamaha and Schilke Booths at the NAMM show. The Schilke horn won every time hands down. Rick Baptist was so impressed he walked out with one that very same day and is rumored to be making a CD with this horn.
