I play on is the new HornTrader custom signature mouthpiece by Mark Curry. The HT 3CS-28. I am selling these pieces for $150 ( SH&I) Basically it is a high compression shallow 3C Trumpet Mouthpiece It is a slightly shallower Mt Vernon 3C copy with his #1 Back-bore and a 28 hole. My HT 3CS 28 is a rim that was copied from a Mt Vernon 3C that belonged to Arturo Sandoval Then the Cup was made a tad shallower (.017) but also a bit more room on the sides near the bottom of the cup The bite is soft like a worn Mt V 3C The contour is more straight to the shallower cup The drill is a 28 The Back bore has a 28 hole but is a straight taper #1 reamer. Medium tight with brilliance. About .017 shallower than a Mt Vernon 3C cup We’ve opened up the 2nd cup which should make it a little more free-blowing. And have added a slightly sharper shoulder going into the throat, making it a little more angular instead of a smooth radius. The X-28 Backbore has a 28 hole but is a straight taper #1 reamer. Medium tight with brilliance. Length 3.5′ Weight 3.2 oz. Backbore exit diameter .333′ Outside shank diameter .383′ (gives a gap similar to a Reeves #5 sleeve) Can cut new ones for sleeves (add $25) Extra Sleeves are $25 ID .666′ at 30 thou from the top of mouthpiece Bite radius .069′ OD 1.07′ Undercut angle 15.5 degrees main cup shortened by 17 thou, 2nd cup slightly wider, more angular. 70 thou/inch reamer, tight 28 throat.

In the late 1970’s, Scott Laskey began his career by studying and modifying some of the world’s most influential mouthpieces before embarking on his journey to create and refine his own line of Laskey Trumpet Mouthpieces. Upon relaunching this iconic collection, we revisited mouthpieces from various eras of Scott Laskey’s career to identify the most complete and balanced designs, and the true essence of Scott’s visionary work.

Every Laskey Trumpet Mouthpiece model features a beautifully contoured rim with a slight peak near the inside rim, set within an artfully engineered and balanced outer blank that combines quick response with strong projection. Laskey’s fully automated CNC machining process brings the original throat and backbore specifications to life, achieving an incredible surface finish and uncompromising precision. Many artists appreciate the improved slotting, rich timbre, and beautiful core of the Laskey sound that is second-to-none.

Laskey 65S Mouthpiece

Model Descriptions

ES Series

The shallowest in Scott Laskey’s original catalogue, this mouthpiece combines a very shallow cup with a softened entrance to the throat, maintaining a beautiful, brilliant tone in the extreme high register. It is well-suited for Eb/D soprano or piccolo trumpet.

*65ES in development*

S Series

Designed as a medium shallow cup, it enhances brilliance, tone, and upper register support. This versatile mouthpiece is perfect for both lead/commercial playing or Eb/D soprano trumpet.

*84S in development*

MC Series

With a unique double cup design, the MC Series combines a moderately shallow first cup near the rim for comfort and response, with a second cup towards the throat that produces a rich tone not commonly found in mouthpieces of this depth.

C Series

This model mirrors a traditional C cup, featuring a strong core with remarkable versatility. It responds well across a wide range of dynamics and styles, making it suitable for various performances from commercial to orchestral.

*30C, 40C and 65C in development*

MD Series

The MD Series, with its medium-deep cup bridges the gap between the C Series and the deeper D Series. It offers a dark, rich tone characteristic of deeper mouthpieces and a broad sound that blends well with a large brass section.

B Series

With a unique cup shaped like a concave funnel, this mouthpiece delivers a full, dark sound that projects exceptionally well while maintaining responsiveness.

*50B in development*

D Series

A deep bowl reminiscent of the classic #1 mouthpiece, this model is ideal for those with a robust embouchure and endurance. Its extra-large cup volume produces a powerful wall of sound.

Standard throat size on all trumpet mouthpieces is #27/.144”/3.66mm

Improved slotting & response – notes lock in quicker and cleaner
Enhanced projection – cut through the band without overblowing
Better endurance – more efficiency = less fatigue
No adjustment period – keep your current rim and feel

Works great with mouthpieces from Bach, Schilke, Yamaha, Denis Wick and more.

⸻

Compared to a mouthpiece with the Classic internal configuration, a Prana will allow for a more resonant sound, more effortless playing through the full range of the instrument, and greater ease of dynamic control.
Various Kanstul Mouthpieces and styles!

Kanstul offers more models and options for trumpet mouthpieces today than any other mouthpiece manufacturer in the world. As an innovator, Kanstul pioneered the next generation of mouthpiece production back in 2000, with our revolutionary Renishaw scanner. For the first time, exact copies became available on any line of mouthpiece. Using a modular concept, players were now enabled to use different manufactures cups or backbores to offer an endless variety of choices.

This also led to another Kanstul innovation: the Mouthpiece Comparator. An extremely useful tool for the discerning artist, enabling them to visually see and overlap one cup or backbore with another, thus allowing the player to analyze the subtle difference in rim contour, cup shape and backbore taper. One of the first artists to avail themselves of the new technology was Wallace Roney, with his Gustat mouthpieces that Miles Davis had left him. So exact and beautiful was the copy of this mouthpiece that when the Sony corporation decided to have a special edition release of all of Miles’s recordings in a special trumpet case, they included a Kanstul replica Gustat mouthpiece with each one.

We now invite you, the player, to come into our site and see what a difference your mouthpiece can make in your quest for constant improvement of your sound and technique…especially if it is a Kanstul Precision Mouthpiece

Bob Reeves Brass Mouthpieces was founded in 1968 in Hollywood, California. A U.S. Navy-trained machinist and toolmaker, Bob Reeves apprenticed in the craft with custom mouthpiece maker Carroll Purviance and making trumpets at the Benge Company in Burbank, CA, before opening up his own shop.

Our earliest mouthpieces were custom made for professionals working in the studios and concert halls around Southern California, but quickly expanded as word spread about the solutions Bob Reeves Brass had to offer. Players would drop by the shop when the popular road bands would come through Los Angeles. Eventually, the custom mouthpieces we made developed into the line of mouthpieces we make today.
