The Olds Super Star was a popular horn in the early to mid ’70’s that was marketed as an “in-between” horn.

The Super Star does not get a lot of love in the market, but from everything I’ve been told, it was not considered an intermediate horn at all. In fact, the sales data from the last decade of Olds indicates that it was one of their best sellers:

.460 bore with a 4 3/4 inch bell. The ultrasonic stamped on the lead pipe refers to the design of the bore that allows the air to move through unimpeded, resulting in a very free-blowing instrument with that classic Olds sound

V-102 Super Star Trumpet The Olds Super Star Trumpet offers the great- est breakthrough in sound since the first horn was pieced together and soldered at the seams-the Ultra Sonic design. The Straight- Through-Design lets the air column flow directly into the valve, straight through and out the bell. Sounding good was nevereasier than with the V-102 Super Star Trumpet.
