Description

Bach Stradivarius Model 43* Lightweight Bell
Serial Number 103564 • Elkhart, Indiana • Circa 1974

An outstanding Elkhart-era Bach Stradivarius featuring the highly desirable 43* Lightweight Bell and finished in excellent original silver plate.

This trumpet delivers everything players love about a great Bach: a rich, resonant core, brilliant projection, secure slotting, and exceptional versatility. The lightweight bell adds quick response, enhanced resonance, and a lively feel that makes this horn equally at home in jazz, commercial, concert band, and solo settings.

Mechanically, this horn is superb. Valves are fast and smooth with excellent compression and a strong “POP,” while all slides move freely and effortlessly. The silver plating remains in exceptional condition, giving the instrument both outstanding appearance and performance.

Whether you’re a professional player, serious enthusiast, or collector of fine American-made trumpets, this Bach represents one of the most sought-after combinations from the Elkhart years.

A beautiful-playing vintage Strad with exceptional response, outstanding compression, and the unmistakable sound that made Bach the world’s most respected professional trumpet.

The factors adding value are:

  • Elkhart manufacture
  • 43* Lightweight Bell
  • Excellent silver plating
  • Outstanding compression
  • Strong valve action
  • Bach Stradivarius 43*  Lightweight Bell
  • Serial #103564 (circa 1974 Elkhart)
  • Excellent original silver plate
  • Excellent POP compression
  • Fast valves
  • All slides smooth and free
  • No significant dents, repairs, red rot, or plating wear

I was told that the horn had a 43 pipe installed.  There is no evidence of that except solder marks on the underside of the braces.  (see Pictures)

There is no number on the mouthpiece receiver but the horn plays a tad more open with a beautiful warm sound.

I would place this horn in the upper tier of vintage player-grade Elkhart Bachs.
