Martin Handcraft Committee S/n 137392 (1940)

$4,000.00

What a magnificent Horn!

Here is an extremely rare Martin Handcraft Committee manufactured in 1940. The serial number is 137392. It is a #2 size or medium bore (.452) horn. At some point in the last 76 years, it has been relacquered and I suspect a few dings were probably removed. All the slides work properly. I think the valves were rebuilt as they don’t seem to have much wear and are tight and have a fast action. The valve springs are probably new as they are a bit strong for my taste, but I won’t compress them as you may like them this way. Easy to adjust. The tone is bright and clear and this horn slots particularly well for a Committee. Committees can sometimes be too squirrelly on this account. This is a good one. It has very accurate pitch in all registers. The horn has that great dark rich smoky jazz sound, and is a JAZZ players delight.  It would seem that you can just about dial in your kind of sound by a simple mouthpiece change. This is a consignment horn. I’ve seen others in pretty rough condition,  but when sent it to Charlie Melk who does his magic the horn look as is new. If you wanted to spend a few dollars on this one, you could have an even better horn.

The Horn comes with the original case and Martin 7 MPC. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  Video Soon
