Description

I was at the BENGE Anaheim Plant in 1979 to 1981.  The one of my all time favorite horns was the 8Z. Very rare and hard to get.  Triple Shepherds Crook. I remember Zig had just designed or was in the process of design when I started at Benge.  This horn was made in Eastlake Ohio a few years after the Benge plant moved from Anaheim.  So this horn might have been manufactured around 1985.  Valves, slides, and compression are excellent, but I noticed the 1st slide thumb hook has been broken.  To repair it would mean finding a replace ment hook and soldering it on.   I have a hook I’ll see if I can get my tech to remedy the problem.

Joe Lintz (RIP) was shop foreman, Lou Duda worked in mounting, John Duda made bells, and two (sometimes all 3) of the Kanstul sons were employed there as well.  This horn is a large Bore (.468) with 3 Shepherds Crooks.  It is free blowing with a gorgeous tone.  I like this horn so much I still have my original from that era.  I took my horn all over Europe to Busk when I worked cruise ships and would take vacations.  This comes with the original case. No Mouthpiece. No dents or dings, a few scratches. It is a beautiful horn and a player!

This horn will be Sonically Cleaned  before sending out.  I wanted to get it on the site now.   There is slight dirt and wear at some of the hand contact areas.  I think after the horn being sonically cleaned this will not be much of a issue.
