Fine playing 77 Year old horn. It looks to be overhauled at some point in its history. Don’t know who but I can tell you they did a great job.
Based on historic F. Besson Paris serial number records, Besson Brevete serial number 94654 was manufactured approximately in 1949.
Manufacturing Details
Production Era: Late 1940s (Post-WWII). Instruments from this era often carry the “Brevete” stamp, indicating the patented design features that made French Bessons the template for modern professional trumpets.
Location: Likely manufactured in Paris, France. While the Besson brand was purchased by Boosey & Hawkes in 1948, the French factory continued production of the high-end Brevete and Meha models for several years.
Context: Serial numbers in the 90,000–100,000 range represent the final era of independent French production before the brand’s manufacturing became more integrated with Boosey & Hawkes in the mid-1950s.
