Description

Excellent Condition  C.G. Conn Vintage One Bb trumpet (Model 1BR-46, Serial Number 247192). sonic cleaned, polished and readied for sale.
This horn features a gorgeous one-piece hand-hammered rose brass bell paired with the highly versatile #46 standard leadpipe, delivering a warm, rich sound and incredible response.
Condition: Excellent physical and playing shape. The valves are fast and smooth, and all slides move freely with great compression. There is only one small, minor dent that does not affect the playability or sound whatsoever. In fact it is so nominal I can’t get a good picture of it. The 2nd slide has a little bit of lacquer wear on it.
What’s Included:
  • Original Conn Vintage One double hard case
  • Patented Modular Valve Weight (MVW) kit to customize your horn’s balance and feel
  • Premium CKB 1 1/2C Acousti-Balance mouthpiece, the perfect match for this trumpet line
This trumpet was manufactured between 2000 and 2007. The C.G. Conn Vintage One series was launched in 2001 to revive the brand’s legendary professional reputation. While vintage 20th-century Conn serial numbers are well-documented, modern Conn-Selmer serials from the 2000s vary, but the 247XXX range places its build date squarely in this golden era of Vintage One production.
The horn was designed by Fred Powell. He is a highly respected authority in the trumpet world. Powell spent years studying Conn’s most legendary historic horns, like the 38B Connstellation and the 8B Symphony. His goal was to take the best acoustic traits of those old masterpieces and combine them into a single, modern modular instrument.
The most famous artist closely associated with the Conn Vintage One is Grammy-winning jazz virtuoso Nicholas Payton. He famously gave up a highly prized vintage Vincent Bach Stradivarius trumpet to switch to the Vintage One, playing a gold-plated version on his acclaimed album Dear Louis. Fred Powell road-tested the prototypes heavily with top-tier classical orchestral players, commercial studio musicians, and jazz artists across the country to perfect its balance.

About the Mouthpiece
1. CKB (The Maker)
CKB stands for Conn-King-Benge. In the late 1990s and 2000s, these three legendary American brass brands were owned by the same parent company. Their engineers teamed up to design a premium, historical mashup mouthpiece:
  • Conn provided the classic 1920s textured exterior styling.
  • King provided the specialized interior shape from the 1960s.
  • Benge provided the comfortable rim sizes from the 1980s.
2. 1 1/2C (The Size)
The numbers 1 1/2C tell you the exact shape of the cup where you place your lips:
  • 1 1/2: This refers to a large cup diameter (around 17mm). It gives your lips plenty of room to vibrate, which creates a huge, rich volume of tone with very little effort. [1, 2, 3]
  • C: This means it has a medium-deep bowl cup. A “C” cup is the ultimate all-around depth. It is deep enough to sound warm and dark in classical music, but versatile enough to play bright jazz or commercial styles.
3. Acousti-Balance (The Tech)
Standard mouthpieces can sometimes have uneven metal thickness, which wastes acoustic energy. Acousti-Balance means the mouthpiece was carved by a precise computer lathe to evenly distribute its weight.
The mass is perfectly balanced between the top cup and the bottom stem. This weight distribution helps the trumpet “speak” instantly, makes it easier to control your notes, and helps your sound project across a large room.
The CKB 1 1/2C Acousti-Balance is a professional trumpet mouthpiece that was specifically designed to match your Conn Vintage One trumpet. [1, 2]
The name breaks down into three parts: the maker, the size, and the weight design.
