  • Flawless Mechanical Integrity: Equipped with King’s signature chrome-plated piston valves, the action on this trumpet is incredibly fast, smooth, and compression-tight.
  • Acoustic Powerhouse: This horn offers a dark, rich core tone at lower dynamics, but when you push it, the sound opens up into a brilliant, singing upper register with effortless slotting.

Design Characteristics of Serial #393566

The Super 20 trumpet went through subtle variations over its production run. Horns in the 393,000 serial block exhibit specific characteristics:
  • The S1 vs. S2 Designators: H.N. White built these in distinct bore configurations. An S1 denotes a punchy, precise Medium Bore (.448″). An S2 denotes a broader Large Bore (.458″). The serial block sits right in the transition period where King was changing their case logos and stamping variants.
  • The Bell: Standard Super 20 models feature a beautiful, highly detailed engraving on a yellow-brass bell.
  • Valves: King trumpets from this era feature exceptionally durable, fast, and smooth chrome-plated piston valves.
These professional, American-made vintage horns are famous for their dark, rich core tone that opens up into an exceptionally bright, cutting laser beam when pushed.
Great investment! A King Super 20 trumpets from the early 1960s generally hold a solid vintage market value.
