This used 1994 Schilke B1 Bb trumpet is gold plated, with about 99% of the plating intact except for a tiny area on the first valve casing. We gave it a professional cleaning and precision valve alignment, and the horn is in good overall condition, with some surface wear throughout including some scratches and evidence of minor leadpipe dent repairs, as well as some minor red rot in the MTS and the very beginnings of it in the leadpipe. No signs of heavy trauma. Valve compression is very good with Yamaha Regular synthetic oil, and the valve action is stellar. It plays with a remarkably rich, flexible sound with brilliance when you want it thanks to the large #1 bell taper. The lightweight design makes for excellent response and crisp articulations. It’s free-blowing but easy to play thanks to the step bore, and intonation is spot-on — an extremely versatile all-arounder! No case.
FROM SCHILKE:
The B1 was the preferred Bb trumpet of the legendary Renold O. Schilke and is the basis in design for the other B & X Series instruments. Distinguished by its free and open feel, this trumpet is among the most popular Schilke models, allowing the player the diversity in sound color from a rich, full bodied dark sound to a brilliant ringing tone when desired.
